What exactly happens on 12 November 2026?

The Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered a Special Summary Revision (SSR) of voter lists in 17 states and UTs, including Uttar Pradesh, through its letter No. 23/2026-ERS dated 15 October 2026. The qualifying date is 1 January 2027. In simple words, the voter list that UP will use for the next assembly election gets one more round of cleaning and updating.

On 12 November 2026, every Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) in UP will publish the "integrated draft roll" for their constituency. This is the list after all the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work, plus the new names, deletions and corrections done since then. From that same day, the claims and objections window opens.

This is not a fresh SIR. Nobody is coming door to door with an enumeration form this time. It's a normal summary revision, which means the existing list is updated through Forms 6, 7 and 8. If your name is already on the list and your details are right, you don't need to do anything except check.

We've explained the national picture in our post on the SSR 2027 schedule for 17 states. This post is only about UP, where the stakes are higher because the assembly election is due in early 2027.

What are all the dates I need to remember?

UP Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa told the media in October 2026 that the list was frozen on 2 November 2026 so polling stations could be reorganised, with no booth having more than 1,200 voters.

Who can apply during the SSR?

According to the ECI order, EROs have to collect applications from three groups:

1. Anyone eligible but not yet on the list. If you were 18 on or before 1 October 2026 and still aren't enrolled, apply now.

2. Young people turning 18 by 1 January 2027. This is the big one. If you were born between 2 October 2008 and 1 January 2009, you couldn't apply earlier because you weren't 18 yet. From 12 November 2026, you can file Form 6 even before your birthday, as long as you turn 18 by 1 January 2027.

3. Advance applicants. If you turn 18 later in 2027 (by 1 April 2027, 1 July 2027 or 1 October 2027), you can still apply in advance. Your form gets processed in the quarter your qualifying date falls in.

You also need to be an Indian citizen and an ordinary resident of the place where you're enrolling.

How do I check my name in the UP draft voter list?

Once the draft is out on 12 November 2026, do this:

1. Go to voters.eci.gov.in and open "Search in Electoral Roll".

2. Search by EPIC number (the number on your voter ID card) and pick Uttar Pradesh. This is the fastest way.

3. No EPIC handy? Search by details. Enter your name, father's or husband's name, age, district and assembly constituency.

4. Or search by mobile number if your number is linked to your voter record.

5. Note down your part number and serial number. You'll need these on polling day and if you file any correction.

6. Check the PDF of your part. The UP CEO website usually puts up part-wise draft roll PDFs. Look at your family members too, since families are supposed to be kept together in the same part.

You can also call 1950 or ask your Booth Level Officer (BLO). Our guide on finding your BLO and polling station shows how to get their number.

My name is missing or wrong. Which form do I fill?

Your problemForm to fill
Name not on the list, or first-time voterForm 6
NRI voter wanting to enrolForm 6A
Someone dead, shifted or duplicate is still on the listForm 7
Spelling, age, photo or address is wrongForm 8
You moved within UP or within the same constituencyForm 8 (shifting)
Need a new EPIC card or want to be marked as a PwD voterForm 8

Fill them online at voters.eci.gov.in or on the ECINET app. Online forms are e-signed using Aadhaar OTP. You can also hand a paper form to your BLO or at the ERO's office.

What documents do I need for Form 6?

Keep these ready before you start:

☐ Passport-size photo (recent, plain background) ☐ Age proof: birth certificate, Class 10 marksheet, passport, PAN card or similar ☐ Address proof: bank or post office passbook, electricity or water bill, rent agreement, passport or similar ☐ Mobile number for OTP ☐ Aadhaar number (optional) ☐ EPIC number of a family member already on the list, if you have one

On Aadhaar, the ECI order is very clear. Giving your Aadhaar number is voluntary. No application can be rejected and no name can be deleted just because someone couldn't give Aadhaar.

Can someone get my name deleted with a Form 7?

They can file an objection, but there are safeguards. The ECI has capped how many Form 7 objections one person can file (letter dated 9 October 2026). If deletions in a booth cross 2% of voters, or if one person is the objector in more than 5 cases, the ERO has to verify those personally. Except in death cases, the voter whose name is proposed for deletion has to be served a personal notice.

Every claim and objection also goes up on the ERO's notice board, the booth notice board and the CEO website for at least seven clear days before any decision. So it's worth checking the claims and objections list for your booth during the window. We've covered this in our posts on the Form 7 cap and what to do about a false Form 7.

How do I track my application, and what if it's rejected?

1. Save your reference number the moment you submit online.

2. Track it on voters.eci.gov.in under "Track Application Status".

3. Expect field verification. The BLO may visit to confirm you live there.

4. Check the decision by 28 December 2026. EROs are supposed to have disposed of all claims by then.

5. If rejected, appeal. Under Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, your first appeal goes to the District Magistrate. A second appeal goes to the Chief Electoral Officer.

6. Once accepted, download your e-EPIC using the link sent to your registered mobile. Our e-EPIC download guide walks you through it.

What if I applied between 25 October 2026 and 11 November 2026?

This is a grey zone. The UP CEO said Form 6 filed by 24 October 2026 would make it into the draft. Forms filed after that and before the claims window opens on 12 November 2026 fall in between. Officials said in October 2026 that they were discussing with the ECI how to handle these openly, with lists published on Form 9 like other claims.

Our advice: if you applied in this period, check the draft on 12 November 2026. If your name isn't there, keep tracking your reference number. If your application shows no movement by late November 2026, file a fresh Form 6 during the window or ask your BLO.

Why does this SSR matter so much in UP?

UP went through a full SIR from November 2025. Reports put the final post-SIR roll at about 13.4 crore voters, with roughly 2 crore names dropped as dead, shifted, duplicate or untraceable. Some of those were genuine voters who missed the process. This SSR is the last major chance to fix the list before the 2027 assembly election.

Once elections are announced, deletions and corrections are frozen from the 10th day after the announcement. So don't wait. Check now, fix now.

What happens next?

After 4 January 2027, the final roll becomes the base list for the UP assembly election. Continuous updation carries on, so you can still apply later, but there's always a cut-off before polls. Your MLA's office can also help with stuck cases. Find your MLA and constituency on NetaSampark's Uttar Pradesh page, and see our list of all 80 MPs of Uttar Pradesh.

Final reminder

Mark 12 November 2026 on your calendar. Search your name with your EPIC number, check your family's names, and file Form 6 or Form 8 before 11 December 2026 if anything's off. If you're turning 18 by 1 January 2027, this is your window. Don't let it pass.
