How to apply through a CSC

Registration is designed to be completed through a Common Service Centre (CSC) using the PM Vishwakarma portal and Aadhaar-based authentication. The government describes the registration as free of charge. (Press Information Bureau)

The CSC operator should not charge you a private "PM Vishwakarma registration fee" simply for registering under the scheme.

What should you keep ready?

Before visiting the CSC, keep:

☐ Aadhaar

☐ Mobile number

☐ Bank-account details

☐ Details of your traditional trade

☐ Basic personal/family information

☐ Other documents requested during verification

The exact information required can depend on the registration and verification stage.

What happens after registration?

PM Vishwakarma is not just a loan scheme.

The programme has several components:

Recognition

→ Certificate + ID Card

Skill Upgradation

→ Basic and advanced training

Toolkit

→ Up to ₹15,000

Credit

→ Up to ₹3 lakh in two tranches

Digital Incentive

→ Incentives for eligible digital transactions

Marketing

→ Market-linkage and promotional support. (MSME)

PM Vishwakarma toolkit incentive

Eligible beneficiaries can receive a toolkit incentive of up to ₹15,000 through an e-voucher. (MSME)

The incentive is linked to the skill-training process rather than being an unrestricted cash payment.

The purpose is to help artisans obtain or upgrade tools relevant to their trade.

Examples

A carpenter may require improved woodworking tools.

A tailor may need better sewing equipment.

A barber may require professional tools.

A potter may need appropriate equipment for pottery work.

The actual toolkit support is governed by the scheme's trade-specific arrangements.

Skill training

PM Vishwakarma provides:

Basic Training

5–7 days

Advanced Training

15 days or more

The scheme provides a ₹500-per-day stipend during eligible training, along with a transport allowance of ₹1,000 as specified in the scheme booklet. (MSME)

Completing basic training is also relevant to accessing the first tranche of credit.

PM Vishwakarma loan

The scheme provides collateral-free Enterprise Development Loans up to ₹3 lakh in two tranches:

TrancheAmountTenureFirstUp to ₹1 lakh18 monthsSecondUp to ₹2 lakh30 months

The concessional interest rate is 5%, with Government of India interest subvention of 8%. (MSME)

Important

This is credit, not a ₹3 lakh cash grant.

Loan sanction and disbursement are subject to the scheme's conditions and the lending process.

When can you get the first loan?

Beneficiaries who have completed Basic Training become eligible for the first tranche of credit support of up to ₹1 lakh. (Press Information Bureau)

The second tranche is available subject to additional conditions, including having availed the first tranche and maintained a standard loan account, along with adopting digital transactions in the business or completing Advanced Training. (Press Information Bureau)

So the journey isn't:

Registration → ₹3 lakh immediately

It is closer to:

Registration

→ Verification

→ Training

→ First credit eligibility

→ Repayment/standard account + required conditions

→ Second tranche eligibility

How to check your loan status

If you have already applied for PM Vishwakarma credit, use the official PM Vishwakarma portal and the relevant application/status facilities rather than relying on an agent.

PM Vishwakarma official portal

Keep your:

  • Application/registration details
  • Mobile number
  • Aadhaar-linked information
  • Bank details
  • Loan application/reference information

ready when checking the status.

What if your loan is pending?

A pending application does not automatically mean rejection.

The loan process involves the financial institution and applicable verification/sanction procedures.

The Government has specifically taken measures to improve loan sanctions and disbursements, including reviewing pending applications and improving coordination with banks. (Press Information Bureau)

If your application remains pending:

  1. Check the application status.
  2. Note the application/reference number.
  3. Contact the concerned bank/lending institution.
  4. Ask what stage the application is at.
  5. Keep written acknowledgement or reference details.
  6. Don't submit duplicate applications simply because the first one is taking time.
What if the bank rejects the loan?

Don't assume that PM Vishwakarma registration itself guarantees a loan.

The scheme provides credit support, but the credit application still goes through the applicable lending process.

Ask the bank for the reason/status of the application and retain the reference number.

If the issue is a pending application rather than a final rejection, ask whether any document or verification is outstanding.

Digital transaction incentive

PM Vishwakarma also includes an incentive to encourage beneficiaries to accept and use digital payments in their businesses. (Press Information Bureau)

The government has also partnered with payment platforms to facilitate QR-code-based digital payments for beneficiaries. (Press Information Bureau)

This is separate from the toolkit incentive and loan.

Marketing support

The scheme isn't limited to training and credit.

Marketing support can include:

  • Trade fairs
  • Exhibitions
  • Branding
  • Publicity
  • Market-linkage opportunities
  • Access to platforms such as GeM and e-commerce channels

The government has been onboarding beneficiaries to wider market channels as part of the scheme. (Press Information Bureau)

What does the PM Vishwakarma Certificate do?

Registration provides formal recognition as a Vishwakarma through a certificate and ID card. (MSME)

This recognition is part of the scheme's broader effort to formalise traditional artisans and connect them with training, finance and markets.

Don't pay an agent for a "guaranteed loan"

Be particularly careful with anyone saying:

"Pay me ₹5,000 and your PM Vishwakarma loan will definitely be sanctioned."

There is no legitimate way for a private agent to guarantee a bank's credit decision.

Also never give anyone:

❌ Aadhaar OTP

❌ Bank OTP

❌ UPI PIN

❌ ATM PIN

❌ Internet-banking password

A CSC operator may perform Aadhaar authentication as part of the official registration process, but you should remain present during the transaction.

PM Vishwakarma vs a normal business loan

PM Vishwakarma has a specific target group.

It is intended for artisans/craftspeople in the 18 notified traditional trades who meet the scheme conditions.

A person running an unrelated business should not assume that PM Vishwakarma is simply a general MSME loan.

15-minute eligibility checklist

Before going to a CSC, ask yourself:

☐ Am I 18 or older?

☐ Do I personally work in the trade?

☐ Is my trade one of the 18 notified trades?

☐ Do I work with my hands/tools?

☐ Am I self-employed in the unorganised sector?

☐ Is nobody else in my family already registered under the scheme?

☐ Do I meet the government-loan conditions?

☐ Am I/my family not in government service?

If the answer to these conditions is yes, proceed to the official registration/verification process.

NetaSampark checklist

If you're an eligible traditional artisan, the important distinction is:

PM Vishwakarma registration ≠ automatic ₹3 lakh loan.

The process is:

Eligibility → CSC registration → verification → recognition/training → toolkit support → credit eligibility → bank processing → loan disbursement.

Start with the official portal/CSC, keep your application details, and track the loan through the official process rather than paying an agent to "speed it up."

Scheme conditions, bank processing and portal workflows can change. For a live application, use the current PM Vishwakarma portal and the instructions shown for your application.
