Quick take: Seeing a cheaper LPG cylinder and seeing a subsidy credited to your bank account are not the same thing. Under PAHAL, the subsidy mechanism is linked to the consumer's LPG connection and bank/DBT details. For PMUY/Ujjwala households, additional support may apply depending on the current government scheme and period. The safest approach is to check the cylinder transaction, subsidy/payment status, and bank statement separately.
This is a citizen checklist for tracing an LPG subsidy credit. Exact subsidy amounts, eligibility, and payment arrangements can change with government notifications—verify the current position through your LPG distributor/company and official government channels.
First: understand what you're actually checking
There are several things families casually call "LPG subsidy":
- PAHAL / DBT LPG subsidy — the DBT mechanism associated with eligible LPG consumers.
- PMUY / Ujjwala benefits — support for eligible Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana households.
- Cylinder price / discount — what you actually pay when booking or receiving the cylinder.
- Bank credit — the money that actually reaches the linked account.
These are related, but they aren't interchangeable.
If someone says:
"Your subsidy is approved."
ask:
"What is the transaction/reference number, and has the amount actually been credited to my bank?"
That's the difference between a promise and a payment.
Step 1: Identify your LPG connectionBefore troubleshooting the bank, establish exactly which connection you're dealing with.
Keep handy:
- LPG consumer number / ID
- Registered mobile number
- Distributor name
- LPG company
- Recent booking number
- Cylinder delivery date
- Bank account used for DBT
- PMUY/Ujjwala status, if applicable
If your household has changed its phone number or bank account recently, put that at the top of the troubleshooting list.
Step 2: Check the cylinder transaction firstLook at your recent LPG booking/delivery record.
Record:
Booking date → delivery date → amount paid → transaction/reference number → subsidy/payment status shown
Don't rely on memory.
A bank statement saying nothing arrived doesn't tell you whether:
- no subsidy was generated,
- subsidy was generated but not released,
- payment was rejected,
- payment went to another mapped account,
- or the credit is simply delayed.
You need to identify the stage where the chain broke.
Step 3: Don't confuse "subsidy applicable" with "subsidy credited"This is the most common mistake.
Think of the process as:
Eligible connection → cylinder transaction → subsidy calculated → payment initiated → bank/NPCI routing → account credit
A failure anywhere in that chain can look like:
"No subsidy."
But the fix depends on where it stopped.
For example:
Subsidy calculated but payment failed
→ investigate bank/DBT details.
No subsidy generated
→ investigate eligibility, current government rules, or LPG records.
Payment credited
→ the problem may simply be that you're checking the wrong account.
Step 4: Check your bank statement—not just SMSOpen the bank statement for the relevant period.
Look for:
- LPG subsidy
- DBT
- PAHAL
- Government credit
- NEFT/DBT references
- Other descriptions supplied by your bank
SMS alerts aren't enough.
A mobile number can be changed, SMS can fail, and family members may not know which account receives government payments.
Download the statement or take a screenshot showing the relevant dates.
Step 5: If you have multiple bank accounts, stop guessingThis causes enormous confusion.
A family may have:
- old savings account
- salary account
- Jan Dhan account
- joint account
- recently opened account
And everyone assumes the subsidy will arrive in the account currently being used.
DBT routing can depend on the Aadhaar/NPCI mapping and the details held for the benefit.
Ask the bank specifically:
"Which account is currently mapped for Aadhaar-based DBT, and is this account active for receiving government DBT?"
Don't settle for:
"Aadhaar is linked."
You need to know the DBT routing status.
Aadhaar linked ≠ subsidy guaranteedPeople often use "linked" to describe several different things.
There can be a difference between:
Aadhaar recorded in the bank's customer profile
and
Aadhaar seeded/mapped for DBT routing.
If the LPG record is correct but the bank says the payment cannot be routed, ask the bank to check the DBT/NPCI mapping rather than simply checking whether your Aadhaar number appears on the account.
If they make a change, ask for an acknowledgement.
Step 6: Check your LPG records after a bank changeIf you recently:
- changed banks,
- closed an account,
- merged a bank account,
- changed your name,
- updated Aadhaar,
- changed your mobile number,
don't assume the old setup automatically follows you.
Compare:
LPG consumer record
with
bank account
with
Aadhaar/DBT mapping.
One mismatch can stop the payment.
Ujjwala households: check the current benefit separatelyIf you're a PMUY beneficiary, don't assume every LPG-related benefit is the same thing as a standard PAHAL credit.
Government support for PMUY households can include specific subsidy arrangements announced for eligible beneficiaries.
Therefore, check:
- Whether the connection is recorded as PMUY/Ujjwala.
- Whether the household remains eligible under the current rules.
- Whether the relevant subsidy/support applies to the cylinder transaction you're checking.
- Whether the amount was actually credited.
Don't calculate the expected amount from an old WhatsApp message.
Subsidy amounts and applicable periods can change.
The five-minute evidence packBefore visiting the distributor or bank, create one folder.
LPG
- Consumer ID
- Distributor name
- Recent booking number
- Delivery date
- Invoice/receipt
- Screenshot of subsidy/payment status
Bank
- Account statement for the relevant period
- Account number (share only with the authorised bank/department)
- DBT/NPCI mapping confirmation
- Bank complaint/reference number, if any
Identity
- Aadhaar
- LPG consumer details
- PMUY documentation, if applicable
Don't hand over your Aadhaar OTP to a dealer, agent, or "subsidy helper."
Where to troubleshoot firstUse this order:
1. LPG distributor/company
Ask:
"Was subsidy generated for this cylinder transaction? What is the payment/reference status?"
Get the answer against the specific booking/delivery.
2. Bank
If LPG says payment was initiated:
"Please check whether this DBT was received, rejected, or routed through another Aadhaar/NPCI-mapped account."
Ask for a complaint/reference number if they cannot resolve it immediately.
3. LPG grievance channel
If the distributor cannot explain the transaction, escalate through the LPG company's official grievance mechanism.
Keep the consumer number and transaction reference in the subject.
4. Government grievance route
For unresolved systemic problems, use the relevant official grievance channel with the complete evidence pack.
One well-documented complaint is better than five identical complaints.

First establish where the payment actually went.
Ask the bank:
"Please confirm the account currently mapped for Aadhaar-based DBT."
If another account is mapped, document it.
Then ask the relevant LPG/payment authority what correction is required.
Keep every reference number.
If the dealer says "system problem"That's not a diagnosis.
Ask:
"What is the transaction/reference number?"
Then:
"Is the transaction pending, failed, rejected, or completed?"
Those four words dramatically improve the conversation.
If there is an error code, photograph it.
A specific error can be routed.
"System problem" cannot.
What not to doDon't pay an agent to "activate subsidy."
Don't share Aadhaar OTP.
Don't give your bank PIN or UPI PIN.
Don't install an APK sent over WhatsApp claiming to be a subsidy checker.
Don't assume every LPG message is genuine.
Don't repeatedly change bank/Aadhaar details without understanding the existing mapping.
And never send your full bank statement to a random person online.

If several families have the same problemThis is where an individual subsidy complaint becomes a civic issue.
Suppose 40 Ujjwala households in the same worker colony report:
- cylinder delivered,
- subsidy expected,
- no credit,
- same bank,
- same distributor,
- same period.
Don't send 40 emotional messages.
Build a small anonymised table:

Remove Aadhaar numbers and unnecessary personal information.
Now you have evidence of a pattern.
That's much more useful when approaching the responsible department or elected representative.
Where NetaSampark fitsThe LPG company and bank handle the transaction.
A representative is not a substitute for either.
But if a locality is experiencing a repeated implementation failure, your evidence pack can help you brief the relevant MP/MLA or local representative about the pattern.
Use NetaSampark Representatives to identify the appropriate representative, while keeping the actual subsidy complaint with the responsible LPG/bank/government channel.
Soft close
A missing LPG subsidy is easier to fix when you stop asking:
"Where is my money?"
and start asking:
"Was the subsidy generated, was payment initiated, and which account was it routed to?"
Check the LPG transaction. Check the bank statement. Confirm DBT mapping. Save the references.
Don't guess. Trace the payment.
Be informed. Be heard.
