The viral "KRDP Recruitment 2026" notice for 12,878 Group B and C posts under a so-called Khadi Reform and Development Programme is fake. KVIC has said it issued no such advertisement, and PIB Fact Check has flagged it. Don't apply on krdp.org.in or share documents or money. Here's how to verify any job notice yourself.

What did the fake KRDP notice say?

A notice spread on WhatsApp, Telegram and some job websites in late October 2026. It claimed:

• 12,878 vacancies: 3,602 Group B and 9,276 Group C posts

• Posts like Khadi Development Officer, Khadi Inspector, Junior Assistant, Lower Division Clerk, Driver and Multi Tasking Staff

• Selection by a computer-based test

• Apply online from 26 October 2026, registration till 25 November 2026, final submission till 30 November 2026, corrections from 2 to 4 December 2026

• Nil application fee

• An advertisement number and the website krdp.org.in

It looked real. Proper formatting, government-sounding name, Group B and C categories, even a fake advertisement number. That's exactly why so many people shared it.

What did KVIC and PIB say?

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), which is the actual statutory body for khadi under the Ministry of MSME, said it has not issued any such recruitment notification. PIB Fact Check also called the advertisement fake and asked people not to fall for it.

There is no government body called "Khadi Reform and Development Programme" that recruits staff this way. KVIC's real recruitment notices appear on its own website.

Who is most at risk from notices like this?

Pretty much anyone preparing for government jobs, but especially:

• Class 10 and 12 pass candidates looking at MTS, driver and clerk posts, because these fake notices target lower posts with huge numbers

• First-time applicants who haven't seen how SSC or state commission notices usually look

• Parents filling forms for their kids at cyber cafes, without checking the source

• People in WhatsApp and Telegram job groups, where one forward reaches thousands in minutes

If you run or are part of a job group, pin a message telling people to check the official site before applying. One alert can save lots of people from losing their data.

If the fee is zero, what's the harm?

Good question. A "no fee" notice feels safe, but scammers have other ways to profit:

• Your data. Aadhaar, PAN, photos, signatures and bank details can be misused for loans, SIM cards or fraud

• Later payments. After you "pass", they ask for a "document verification fee", "training deposit" or "security money"

• Phishing. Fake portals can install malware or capture passwords

• Selling your data to other scam callers

So even if no money is asked at the start, don't fill the form.

How do I check if a government job notice is real, step by step?

1. Check the website address. Central government sites usually end in .gov.in or .nic.in. A .org.in, .com or .in site claiming to be a ministry is a red flag.

2. Find the body on its official site. Go to the department's real website yourself (search it, don't click the link in the message) and look under Recruitment or Vacancies.

3. Look for an Employment News listing. Most central recruitments are published in Employment News or Rozgar Samachar.

4. Check if the body even exists. "Programme", "Mission" or "Yojana" names that you've never heard of, recruiting thousands, are suspicious.

5. Check PIB Fact Check. Visit the PIB fact check page or its social accounts.

6. Cross-check numbers. 12,000 posts in a small organisation is unlikely. Real big recruitments come through SSC, UPSC, IBPS, RRB or state commissions.

7. Never pay a person. Fees for real exams are paid on the official portal only.

Where do real central government jobs come from?

• SSC for most Group B and C central posts (ssc.gov.in)

• UPSC for Group A and some Group B posts

• RRBs for Railways

• IBPS and SBI for banks

• Department websites for direct recruitment notices

• National Career Service portal for verified listings. See our NCS guide

For an example of how a real notice looks, see our explainer on the CWC recruitment 2026.

What does a real government recruitment notice usually have?

A genuine notice normally carries the issuing office's name and address, an advertisement number that you can also find on the official website, a clear link back to a .gov.in or .nic.in portal, exact eligibility with age relaxation rules, the exam pattern, and the name of the officer or helpdesk to contact. Real notices also don't come only as a WhatsApp image. If you can't find the same PDF on the official site, treat it as fake till proven otherwise.

What if I already applied on krdp.org.in?

Don't panic, but act right away:

• Paid money? Call 1930 immediately and file a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in. The faster you report, the better the chance of freezing the money. Our 1930 guide explains how

• Shared Aadhaar? Lock your biometrics on the mAadhaar app or UIDAI website

• Shared bank details? Tell your bank and watch for unknown transactions

• Shared passwords? Change them, especially if you reused the same password elsewhere

• Report the notice to PIB Fact Check on WhatsApp 8799711259 or factcheck@pib.gov.in

Real-life examples

A graduate in Patna. Ritika saw the notice in a Telegram group. She checked kvic.gov.in, found nothing, then saw the PIB fact check. She warned the group.

A father in Jaipur. He filled the form for his son and uploaded Aadhaar. He then locked Aadhaar biometrics and kept an eye on the bank account.

A cyber cafe owner in Lucknow. Many students came asking to apply. He showed them the fact check and stopped filling KRDP forms.

Final reminder

Before you apply for any government job, open the department's own website yourself and look for the notice there. If it's not there, it's not real. Report fakes to PIB Fact Check and warn your groups. To ask your MP about job scams in your area, find them on NetaSampark's Know Your Neta.
