Why this matters right now
After the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Kerala's final roll had 2,69,53,644 voters. Before SIR started, the count frozen on 27 October 2025 was 2,78,50,855. That's lakhs of names fewer. Some were deaths, duplicates and people who moved. But many genuine voters simply missed the forms.
Here's the worrying part. The CEO said only 3,676 applications came in during the first week or so of the drive that began on 15 October 2026. So a lot of people who dropped off haven't come back yet. If you're one of them, this revision is your chance to get back on before the final roll on 4 January 2027.
Am I on the list? Check first
1. Go to voters.eci.gov.in and use Search in Electoral Roll.
2. Search by your EPIC number, or by name, age and district, or by mobile.
3. If you're not found, check again once the draft roll is out on 12 November 2026.
4. Also check family members, especially elderly parents and anyone who moved recently.
Which form do I need?
| Your situation | Form |
|---|---|
| New voter, or your name was left out or removed | Form 6 |
| Remove a dead person's name or a duplicate entry | Form 7 |
| Correct a mistake, shift address, or move booth | Form 8 |
How to apply with Form 6, step by step
1. Online: log in at voters.eci.gov.in or the Voter Helpline app with your mobile number.
2. Choose Form 6 for new registration or inclusion.
3. Fill in details: name, date of birth, address, a relative's name, and a family member's EPIC if they're already on the roll.
4. Upload a photo and one approved document for age and address. If you use Aadhaar, the CEO said you need one more supporting document too.
5. Submit and note your reference number. Track it on the same portal.
6. Offline: go to the help desk at your village office or give the form to your BLO.
The BLO will visit your house to verify. Make sure someone's there or keep your phone on.
The good news: the extra declaration form that was being asked for earlier has been dropped, as per the CEO.
What if my application gets stuck?
Most Form 6 applications are decided within a few weeks, but during a revision there's a rush. If your status doesn't move:
• Check the status on voters.eci.gov.in with your reference number
• Call 1950 and give them the reference number
• Meet your BLO or the Electoral Registration Officer (usually the Tahsildar or RDO's office) with a printout
• If your claim is rejected, you get a written reason. You can appeal to the District Election Officer
If you see a wrong entry, like a dead relative's name or someone who doesn't live at your address, you can object with Form 7 before 11 December 2026. Don't file objections against neighbours on a hunch though. Wrong objections can be penalised.
Campus to Booth: for students aged 17
From 2 November 2026 to 7 November 2026, the Election Department is running Campus to Booth in higher secondary schools and colleges. The tagline is "Step Forward, Get Counted."
If you're 17 now and turn 18 on or before 1 January 2027, you can apply in advance. Your name goes on the roll once you're 18. Even if you turn 18 later in 2027, you can still apply in advance; your name will be added for the qualifying date of 1 April 2027, 1 July 2027 or 1 October 2027, whichever comes first after your birthday.
Bring a photo and your SSLC certificate or another age proof to the campus camp. Electoral literacy clubs in your school or college can help you fill it.
Polling stations are being reshuffled too
The Election Commission has asked Kerala to rationalise polling stations, because some booths have under 500 voters while others have over 1,200. So your booth might change. After the draft roll is out on 12 November 2026, check your polling station along with your name.
Common mistakes that delay your application
A lot of Form 6 applications come back because of small slips. Watch out for these:
• Photo that's blurry, too dark or a selfie with a cluttered background
• Date of birth on the form not matching the age proof
• Address written differently from the address proof, like a missing house name or ward number
• Applying with Form 6 when you're already on the roll somewhere else, which creates a duplicate. If you've moved, use Form 8 instead
• Wrong mobile number, so you miss the OTP and BLO calls
Take five extra minutes to check everything before you submit. It saves weeks later.
Real-life examples
Example 1, a dropped voter in Kollam. Sreeja, 44, voted in 2021 but wasn't found after SIR. She files Form 6 at her village office help desk on 3 November 2026 and checks the draft roll on 12 November 2026.
Example 2, a Plus Two student in Thrissur. Arjun turns 18 on 10 December 2026. He fills Form 6 at the Campus to Booth camp on 4 November 2026. He'll be on the final roll on 4 January 2027.
Example 3, a family that moved to Kochi. The Thomases shifted from Kottayam. They file Form 8 to move all four names to the same booth in Kochi.
