What ECINET is actually for
Think of ECINET as a single front door for election services.
You can use it to:
- Search your name in the electoral roll
- Register as a new elector
- Update/correct electoral-roll details
- Track submitted applications
- Download your e-EPIC
- Connect with election officials
- Book a call with your BLO
- Access grievance-related services
- Access other ECI election tools integrated into the platform (Election Commission of India)
The underlying electoral-roll services remain ECI/CEO processes. ECINET is the digital interface — using the app does not itself approve an application.
Before you open the app
Keep these handy:
- Your EPIC / Voter ID number, if already enrolled
- Mobile number
- Name and date of birth
- State, district and Assembly Constituency
- Address details
- Application/reference number if you have already filed something
- Supporting documents if you are submitting a form
Don't share your OTP with a CSC operator, agent, caller or person claiming to be a BLO.
1 Search your name in the electoral roll
Start here if your question is simply:
“Am I currently listed as a voter?”
Use the electoral-roll search and enter the information requested on screen.
Depending on the search route, you may be able to search using your EPIC or elector details.
ECI specifically states that citizens should verify their name in the electoral roll before voting. The ECI's voter-services system also provides polling-station and BLO information. (Election Commission of India)
Don't stop at “I found my name”
Check:
- Your name
- EPIC number
- Assembly Constituency
- Polling station
- Part/serial information where displayed
- Other displayed voter details
Take a screenshot for your records.
During SIR, also pay attention to any state-specific SIR search option. The ECI's current citizen portal provides a “Search your name in last SIR E-Roll” facility where applicable. (Citizen Service Portal)
2 Need to register? Use the appropriate form
If you're eligible but not enrolled, use the registration route rather than trying to correct a non-existent entry.
ECI identifies Form 6 as the application for registration of a general elector. Applications can be submitted online or through the ERO/AERO/BLO channels described by ECI. (Election Commission of India)
Keep your age and residence documents ready before starting.
Already registered?
Don't file Form 6 simply because one field is wrong.
For an existing elector, use the appropriate update/correction route shown by ECINET.

3 Track an application
Filed something last week and wondering what happened?
Use Track Your Application rather than submitting another application.
Keep the:
Reference/Application number → status → screenshot
If the status is pending, read the displayed remarks before contacting an officer.
Duplicate applications can create unnecessary confusion, particularly when you already have an active application.
4 Download your e-EPIC
If your electoral record is eligible for an electronic EPIC, ECINET provides the e-EPIC download service. ECI lists e-EPIC as one of its citizen elector services. (Election Commission of India)
After downloading:
- Open the file
- Check your name and EPIC number
- Keep a copy in a secure location
- Don't upload it to random “voter verification” websites
An e-EPIC is your digital EPIC, not proof that a separate application has been approved.
5 Need your BLO? Use the official contact route
This is one of the more useful ECINET features during SIR.
ECINET provides a facility to connect with election officials / book a call with your BLO. (Election Commission of India)
Before contacting the BLO, have:
- EPIC number
- Part/serial information, if available
- Address
- Application/reference number
- Notice number, if this concerns SIR
- A short description of the problem
Keep the call boring
Instead of:
“My voter ID has disappeared. What is happening?”
Try:
“My EPIC is ______. My application/reference is ______. The portal shows ______. Please tell me what action I need to take.”
Write down:
date + officer/contact + instruction + next step
6 SIR users: don't confuse the tools
ECINET can help you find and manage electoral information, but an SIR issue may require a specific process.
For example:
Name missing from draft roll
→ Check the applicable claims/re-enrolment route.
Existing entry has incorrect details
→ Use the correction/update route.
SIR notice received
→ Follow the notice's document/hearing instructions.
Can't locate BLO
→ Use the official BLO/election-official contact facility.
Need historical SIR information
→ Use the state-specific SIR search where available. The ECI citizen portal currently provides last-SIR-roll search functionality for participating states. (Citizen Service Portal)
Don't submit three different forms just because three different problems appear on your screen.

What ECINET does not mean
ECINET does not mean:
- Your name is automatically added after opening the app
- Every application is approved instantly
- A search result replaces the electoral roll
- A BLO must approve something simply because you submitted it online
- An SIR notice can be ignored because your normal voter search works
The authoritative process still follows the applicable electoral-roll rules and instructions from the ECI/CEO/ERO.
10-minute family voter check
Do this once for every adult:
1. Search name

2. Check EPIC/details
↓
3. Check polling station
↓
4. Check application status if anything is pending
↓
5. Download e-EPIC if available
↓
6. Save BLO/contact information
↓
7. Screenshot the important results
For SIR-affected households, add the relevant SIR/last-roll search to that checklist.
If the app doesn't work
Don't immediately assume your electoral record is gone.
Try:
- The official web voter-services portal
- Another search method
- Checking your EPIC carefully
- Calling 1950
- Contacting the mapped BLO/ERO
- Saving screenshots of the error
