The practical rule is simple: if your name is missing from the draft, act by 30 September. If you receive a notice, respond and submit the required documents by 29 October. Don't wait for the final-roll date.

Problem 1 — Your name is missing from the draft
Delhi's draft SIR roll excluded roughly 47.7 lakh names from the earlier electorate of about 1.45 crore. Officials said these included electors whose enumeration forms were not received, with categories including absent, shifted, deceased, duplicate and other reasons. (The Indian Express)
If you're missing:
Check draft roll → file Form 6 + required declaration/supporting documents → save acknowledgement/reference number → track the claim.

Don't confuse this with a correction to an existing entry. If your name is completely absent, the relevant inclusion process is different from Form 8 correction.
Problem 2 — Your name is on the draft, but you receive a notice
This is a different track.
Around 33 lakh electors were expected to receive notices during the next SIR phase, including cases involving logical discrepancies and records that could not be mapped to the previous SIR roll. (The Indian Express)
A notice can require you to establish eligibility through the documents specified by the election authorities.
Being on the draft does not mean you can ignore a notice.

What documents should you prepare?
Follow the document list in your notice rather than relying on a WhatsApp checklist.
Reporting on Delhi's SIR notice process says the Election Commission identified a list of documents including items such as:
- Birth certificate
- Passport
- Caste certificate
- Permanent residence certificate

Aadhaar: don't make it your entire file
The Delhi SIR reporting specifically notes that Aadhaar alone is not sufficient to establish all eligibility requirements in this process. Additional documentation may be required for matters such as age and citizenship. (The Indian Express)
So prepare a proper document pack rather than arriving with only an Aadhaar photocopy.

The second can be useful when the SIR process asks you to establish continuity or resolve an unmapped record. The official ECI search itself warns that spelling variations can affect results. (Voter Information System)
If you receive a logical-discrepancy notice
Don't submit a random stack of documents.
First identify what the discrepancy actually is.
For example, reporting has described discrepancies involving:
- Elector/parent age-gap anomalies
- Name mismatches with the previous SIR roll
- Sibling birth-date gaps
- Unmapped records
The appropriate evidence depends on the issue identified by the ERO. (The Indian Express)
Notice says what needs explaining → documents should answer that question.
If you are missing from the draft
Your immediate checklist is:
1. Search the draft roll
2. Confirm that your name is actually absent
3. File Form 6
4. Complete the required declaration
5. Attach the prescribed supporting documents
6. Submit before 30 September
7. Save the acknowledgement/reference number
8. Track the claim

If your name is present but you have a notice
Don't file another Form 6 simply because you received a notice.
Instead:
Read notice → identify discrepancy → prepare prescribed documents → submit/respond → attend hearing if required → retain acknowledgement.

4 November is the scheduled publication of the final roll.
It is not the date to discover that your name disappeared.
By then, your relevant claim, objection or notice response should already have been dealt with through the prescribed process.

- Screenshot the result.
- Record EPIC number.
- Record Assembly Constituency and part/serial details.
- Check whether anyone is missing.
- Check whether anyone has a notice.
- Create a separate folder for each affected person.

Then check the final roll on/after 4 Nov when published.

Start with the contact information on your notice and the official CEO/ECI channels.
