Who Can Apply for RRB NTPC Graduate 2026?
The basic educational requirement is a degree from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification.
The prescribed qualification must be possessed by the closing date of the application — 6 November 2026. Candidates who are still waiting for their final examination results should not apply on the assumption that they will qualify later. QMaths
Age Limit
For CEN 06/2026, the age is calculated as on 1 January 2027.
The basic age range is:
- Minimum: 18 years
- Maximum: 33 years
Relaxations apply to eligible reserved and special categories according to the Railway rules. For example, SC/ST candidates receive the applicable five-year relaxation and OBC-NCL candidates the applicable three-year relaxation, with separate provisions for PwBD and other specified categories. QMaths
Do not confuse the current 33-year upper limit with older NTPC recruitment cycles where a temporary COVID-related age relaxation applied.
Application Fee: ₹500 or ₹250
The examination fee is:
- ₹500 for candidates outside the specified fee-concession categories.
- ₹250 for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, women, transgender candidates, minorities and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates.
For the ₹500 category, ₹400 is refundable, after applicable bank charges, when the candidate appears in the first-stage CBT.
For the ₹250 concession category, the ₹250 examination fee is refundable, subject to the applicable conditions and bank charges, on appearing in CBT 1. QMaths
Important: EBC Is Not the Same as OBC or EWS
Candidates should not automatically treat EBC, OBC-NCL and EWS as interchangeable categories. The fee concession has its own eligibility and documentation requirements.
Check the CEN carefully before selecting the category or concession in the application.
RRB NTPC Graduate 2026 Exam Pattern
The recruitment uses two Computer Based Tests.
CBT 1
CBT 1 is the initial screening examination:
| Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General Awareness | 40 | 40 |
| Mathematics | 30 | 30 |
| General Intelligence & Reasoning | 30 | 30 |
| Total | 100 | 100 |
The duration is 90 minutes.
There is negative marking of one-third mark for each incorrect answer. QMaths
CBT 2
Candidates shortlisted from CBT 1 move to the second-stage CBT.
| Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General Awareness | 50 | 50 |
| Mathematics | 35 | 35 |
| General Intelligence & Reasoning | 35 | 35 |
| Total | 120 | 120 |
CBT 2 is also scheduled for 90 minutes, with one-third mark deducted for each incorrect answer. Global Jobs News
The minimum qualifying percentages under the established NTPC framework are 40% for UR/EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, and 25% for ST. These are qualifying thresholds, not guaranteed cut-offs for selection. Actual shortlisting can be higher depending on vacancies, RRB, category and candidate performance. Oliveboard
A Major Change: No Typing Test in This CEN
Candidates should pay attention to this point because older RRB NTPC guides may still show a typing test.
For CEN 06/2026, the Computer-Based Typing Skill Test has been dispensed with for Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist and Senior Clerk-cum-Typist. Brolly Exam Prep
This means candidates should not prepare for the recruitment based solely on the selection process published for older NTPC cycles.
Basic computer and typing proficiency can still be relevant to the actual job, but the earlier CBTST stage is not part of this CEN's selection process.
Selection Process
The broad recruitment process is:
CBT 1 → CBT 2 → Document Verification → Medical Examination
The CBT dates have not yet been announced. Candidates should wait for official RRB notices rather than relying on coaching-centre estimates of the examination date. Brolly Exam Prep
Candidates should also remember that clearing a minimum qualifying percentage does not by itself guarantee selection. Shortlisting is based on merit and the applicable recruitment rules.
How to Apply for RRB NTPC Graduate 2026
Before starting the application, keep your educational and identity documents ready.
Step 1: Use the official RRB application system
Go to the official RRB recruitment portal and select CEN 06/2026 – NTPC Graduate.

Candidates who already have an account from an earlier RRB recruitment should follow the instructions in the current application system rather than creating unnecessary duplicate accounts.
Step 3: Choose your RRB carefully
A major application rule is that a candidate should apply to only one RRB for this CEN.
The selected RRB and certain account-level information cannot subsequently be changed. Submitting multiple applications can result in rejection and possible debarment. QMaths

Don't Wait Until 6 November
Although the deadline is 6 November, submitting the form in the final hours creates unnecessary risk.
Candidates should ideally:
- Confirm their degree qualification.
- Check their age against 1 January 2027.
- Decide which RRB to select.
- Check post preferences and medical requirements.
- Keep category certificates ready.
- Complete identity authentication.
- Finish the application well before the deadline.
- Save the final application and payment receipt.
The medical standard also differs by post. For example, Goods Train Manager has an A-2 medical standard, while CCTS is B-2 and the two clerical/typist posts are C-2. Candidates with vision or other medical concerns should read the applicable medical standards before finalising post preferences. QMaths
What Should Candidates Start Preparing?
The safest strategy is to prepare for CBT 1 and CBT 2 together rather than waiting for the CBT 1 date.

Beware of Fake Railway Recruitment Offers
RRB recruitment is conducted through a competitive examination process. Candidates should not pay an agent or anyone promising a guaranteed Railway appointment.
Use only official RRB websites and the authorised application system for notices, applications, exam-city information, admit cards and results. RRB itself has repeatedly warned candidates against unauthorised websites and touts. RRB CDG
