Who should check?
Look at every member listed on your ration card.
Your household should check whether each member's e-KYC status is:
- Success / completed
- Pending
- Blank or otherwise incomplete
Don't assume that because one member completed e-KYC, the entire card is complete.

e-Services → e-Ration Card → Show RCs / RC Status → select zone → enter the 12-digit ration-card number.

What to carry to the Fair Price Shop
Keep these ready:
- Ration-card number
- Original Aadhaar cards of the relevant family members
- Aadhaar-linked mobile phone, where required
- Any other information specifically requested by the Food Department or FPS

If fingerprint authentication fails
Don't keep repeating the same failed scan indefinitely.
Ask the FPS operator whether an alternative authentication method is available under the current system and whether you should retry later or use an authorised centre.

If the FPS server is down
Record:
- Date and approximate time
- FPS/shop details
- The error shown on the device, if any
- Which family members remain pending

Don't pay a private person simply because they claim they can “activate” the ration card.
Don't wait until 20 October
The extension gives you additional time; it doesn't guarantee that the final week will be technically smooth.

This week: check every member's status

Before October: complete pending authentication

After completion: check the status again
↓
Before 20 October: resolve any member still showing pending

What if your e-KYC is already complete?
You don't need to repeat a successful verification merely because the deadline was extended.
Check the status member-by-member and keep the confirmation for your records.
Important distinction: e-KYC vs ration-card correction
e-KYC verifies the relevant beneficiary identity/authentication.
It does not automatically correct every problem with:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Address
- Family-member additions/deletions
- Other ration-card records
If your underlying ration-card data is wrong, use the appropriate Food Department correction process separately.
A note on foodgrain entitlement
The Union government told Parliament in February 2026 that 98.72% of Karnataka's beneficiaries had completed e-KYC at that point and said genuine beneficiaries should not be denied foodgrains merely because of temporary authentication or technical constraints; states were advised to maintain alternative mechanisms. That does not mean you should ignore a pending e-KYC status. Complete the verification and retain evidence if you encounter a technical failure.
Scam check
Be careful with messages claiming:
“Pay ₹___ to keep your ration card active.”
Don't share:
- Aadhaar OTP
- Bank OTP
- UPI PIN
- ATM PIN
with an unofficial caller or WhatsApp contact.
Use the official Food Department system or your authorised FPS/centre.
If the deadline changes again
Don't rely on an old forwarded message saying 30 September or an unverified claim that the deadline has been extended again.
