Karnataka Final Voter List After SIR (27 October 2026): About 99 Lakh Names Gone — How to Get Back on the Roll and File an Appeal

Karnataka’s final voter list was published on 27 October 2026, following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The new roll has 4.55 crore voters, around 99.32 lakh fewer than the 5.54 crore recorded before the revision.

If your name is missing, don’t panic. Eligible voters can still apply for inclusion, and there is a formal appeal process if an application is rejected. Here’s how to check your name and what to do next.

What Changed in Karnataka’s Final Voter List?

According to reports based on data from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, the final roll contains 4,55,00,011 electors, compared with 5,54,32,314 before SIR. That is a reduction of 99,32,303 names. More than 10 lakh new voters were added during the claims and objections process. (The News Minute)

The earlier draft roll had excluded more than one crore names. Reported reasons for non-inclusion included voters who had shifted, could not be traced, were deceased or appeared as duplicate entries. A lower final count does not mean every deleted entry was ineligible, so it is important to check your own status.

Step 1: Check Whether Your Name Is on the Final Roll

Use the official Election Commission of India portal:

Search your name on the ECI Voters’ Service Portal

You can also visit the ECI electoral search page.

  1. Select the option to search the electoral roll.
  2. Search using your EPIC number (Voter ID number), or enter your personal details.
  3. Select Karnataka and check the result.
  4. If your name does not appear, try different spellings and check your constituency details.
  5. Download the relevant electoral roll from the official portal if you want to check the constituency or polling-station list.

You can also call the Voter Helpline at 1950. Add your area’s STD code if required.

Remember: possessing a Voter ID card does not by itself guarantee that your name is on the current electoral roll. You need to verify your enrolment.

Step 2: If Your Name Is Missing, Apply Using Form 6

The Chief Electoral Officer has said that electoral rolls continue to be updated and eligible people can apply even after publication of the final list.

If you are eligible to vote but your name has been left out, submit Form 6 for inclusion.

Apply through the official ECI Voters’ Service Portal.

Keep the required documents ready, including the prescribed proof of age, residence and other information requested in the application. Follow the portal’s instructions and save your application reference number so you can track its status.

You can also contact your Booth Level Officer (BLO) or Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for help with the process.

Important: Form 6 is for inclusion in the electoral roll. If your existing entry merely has an incorrect address or other details, check whether Form 8 is the appropriate option instead.

Step 3: How to Appeal if Your Application Is Rejected

If the Electoral Registration Officer rejects your application, you do not necessarily have to stop there.

Under Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, an appeal may be available against the ERO’s decision.

The Election Commission’s guidance describes the following route for continuous updating:

  1. First appeal: Submit it to the designated appellate authority in your district, generally the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Executive Magistrate or District Collector.
  2. Second appeal: If the first appeal is unsuccessful, a further appeal may be made to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, as provided under the applicable procedure.

Appeal deadlines apply. The ECI’s electoral-roll manual generally specifies 15 days for the first appeal and 30 days for a further appeal, calculated from the relevant order. Check the instructions accompanying your decision and act promptly.

Include a copy of the order being challenged, your application details and the documents supporting your eligibility. You can find the ECI’s guidance in its official FAQ on appeals.

Will There Be a Special Enrolment Drive?

The final roll has been published, but that does not end voter registration. The ECI’s continuous-updating process allows eligible citizens to apply for inclusion after final publication.

If a separate special enrolment camp or drive is announced in your area, check the dates and arrangements with your local election office or BLO. Do not assume that a new camp is required before you can submit Form 6.

For official updates, use the ECI Voters’ Service Portal or the Election Commission of India website.

Quick Checklist for Voters

  • Check your name on the final electoral roll.
  • If it is missing and you are eligible, apply through Form 6.
  • Keep your application reference number and supporting documents.
  • Track the application and respond to any notice from election officials.
  • If your application is rejected, check the appeal route and deadline immediately.
  • Call 1950 or contact your BLO if you need assistance.

Bottom line: If you are eligible to vote in Karnataka but your name is missing from the final SIR list, check your details and apply through Form 6. If an application is rejected, use the prescribed appeal process rather than assuming you have lost the opportunity to enrol.
