Andhra Pradesh SIR Extended Again: Final Electoral Roll on 16 October — What Voters Should Do Now

The Election Commission of India has extended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) schedule for Andhra Pradesh again. The revised schedule gives voters more time during the notice, claims and objections stage, while the final electoral roll is now scheduled for publication on 16 October 2026. Press Information Bureau

For voters, the important point is simple: do not wait for 16 October to check your name. The additional time is an opportunity to verify your entry, respond to any notice, and correct problems before the final roll is published.

What Changed in Andhra Pradesh?

According to the Election Commission's revised schedule:

SIR activityRevised dateNotice phase / disposal of claims & objections31 July – 10 October 2026Final electoral roll16 October 2026

The extension was announced by the Election Commission on 30 September 2026. Press Information Bureau

The earlier schedule had placed the final publication for Andhra Pradesh on 22 September. The revised timetable moves it to 16 October. Press Information Bureau

Why this matters

The extension gives the election machinery additional time to process notices, claims, objections and related verification before the final roll is published.

For citizens, it means there is still a window to check whether your name and details are correctly reflected and take action where necessary.

1 Check Your Name in the Electoral Roll

Start by checking whether your name appears in the current electoral roll.

The Election Commission's Voters' Service Portal provides facilities to search your name, check polling details and access electoral-roll services. Voters ECI

ECI Voters' Service Portal

Keep your EPIC/Voter ID number handy if you have one.

Also check:

  • Your name spelling
  • Age/date of birth
  • Gender
  • Relative's name
  • Address
  • Assembly constituency
  • Polling station
  • Part number and serial number, where available

Do not assume that having a physical Voter ID card automatically means your entry is correct in the electoral roll.

2 Check the Draft Electoral Roll, Not Just Your Voter ID

A voter should verify the electoral-roll entry itself.

The ECI portal provides an option to download electoral-roll PDFs, including draft rolls for states undergoing SIR. Voters ECI

If possible, check the entry of every eligible voter in your household.

This can help identify problems such as:

  • A family member's name missing
  • Incorrect spelling
  • Wrong age or gender
  • Incorrect address
  • Duplicate-looking entries
  • A deceased family member still appearing
  • A voter who has moved but remains at an old address

Checking the entire household is especially useful because one person's entry may be correct while another person's entry has a problem.

3 If Your Name Is Missing, Don't Just Wait

If an eligible voter does not appear in the relevant roll, use the appropriate electoral service rather than assuming the problem will automatically be corrected.

The ECI currently provides Form 6 for new voter registration through its Citizen Service Portal. Voters ECI

Form 6 is used for inclusion of an eligible elector's name in the electoral roll.

If you have already submitted an application, use the portal's Track Application Status facility to check its progress. Voters ECI

4 If Your Details Are Wrong, Use Form 8

A name may be present but still contain incorrect information.

For example:

  • Wrong spelling of your name
  • Incorrect date of birth or age
  • Wrong address
  • Incorrect gender
  • Incorrect relation name
  • Incorrect photograph
  • Other electoral-roll particulars

The ECI's Form 8 is used for correction of entries and related services such as shifting of residence and replacement of EPIC. Voters ECI

Where documentary proof is required, keep the relevant supporting document ready.

5 If a Person Should Not Be on the Roll, Check Form 7

Form 7 is used for deletion or objection to the inclusion of a name in the electoral roll. Voters ECI

This can be relevant where an entry concerns, for example:

  • A deceased person
  • A person who has permanently shifted
  • A duplicate entry
  • An entry that you believe should be removed for another legally valid reason

Do not submit an objection casually. Electoral-roll objections should be based on genuine information and the applicable rules.

6 What If You Received an SIR Notice?

If the election authorities have issued you a notice during the SIR process, do not ignore it.

The ECI's current citizen portal specifically provides an SIR facility for submitting documents against a notice issued. Voters ECI

Read the notice carefully and check:

  1. What issue has been identified?
  2. Which voter/entry does it concern?
  3. What documents have been requested?
  4. Where and by when must they be submitted?
  5. Has a hearing or verification been scheduled?

Keep copies or acknowledgement details of anything you submit.

7 Keep Your Application Number and Acknowledgement

If you have already filed a Form 6, Form 7, Form 8 or another SIR-related submission, don't submit a duplicate application simply because you haven't immediately seen a change.

First check the application status on the ECI portal. The portal provides a dedicated tracking facility for submitted forms. Voters ECI

Save:

  • Application/reference number
  • Submission date
  • Acknowledgement
  • Uploaded documents
  • Screenshots of the submission
  • Any communication from the ERO/BLO

These records can be useful if you need to follow up.

8 Don't Wait Until 16 October

The final roll is scheduled for 16 October 2026, but that date is not the date to begin checking your name.

The current notice/claims/objections and disposal phase runs until 10 October. Press Information Bureau

That makes the immediate priority:

Check → Identify a problem → File the appropriate claim/objection/application → Keep the acknowledgement → Check the final roll.

If you wait until after the final publication to discover a problem, you may have to use the applicable post-publication electoral process instead of resolving it during the current SIR window.

What Should Every Andhra Pradesh Voter Do This Week?

Use this quick checklist:

If everything is correct

  • Search your name
  • Verify your constituency and polling station
  • Check other eligible family members
  • Keep your EPIC details safely recorded
  • Recheck the final roll after 16 October

If your name is missing

  • Check the electoral-roll PDF carefully
  • Determine whether you need Form 6 or another applicable process
  • Submit the application
  • Save the acknowledgement
  • Track the application

If your details are incorrect

  • Identify the exact incorrect field
  • Prepare supporting proof where required
  • Use Form 8
  • Save the application/reference number
  • Track the correction

If you received an SIR notice

  • Read the notice completely
  • Collect the requested documents
  • Respond within the applicable deadline
  • Keep proof of submission
  • Follow up if verification or a hearing is required

What Happens on 16 October?

The final electoral roll for Andhra Pradesh is scheduled to be published on 16 October 2026 under the revised SIR timetable. Press Information Bureau

Once the final roll is published, voters should search their names again rather than assuming that a previously submitted application was accepted.

If your name is present and the details are correct, save the relevant electoral-roll information.

If there is still a problem, use the electoral services and appeal/complaint mechanisms available through the Election Commission rather than relying only on the physical Voter ID card.

The ECI's Citizen Service Portal also provides access to complaint registration, application tracking, appeals and electoral-roll downloads. Voters ECI

A Simple 10-Minute Voter Check

If you are an Andhra Pradesh voter, you can make this a quick household exercise:

1. Open the ECI Voters' Service Portal.

2. Search your own name.

3. Check every eligible family member.

4. Compare names and addresses with your actual details.

5. Check whether anyone has received an SIR notice.

6. If something is wrong, use the applicable Form 6, 7 or 8/service.

7. Save the acknowledgement.

8. Check the final roll after 16 October.

The key dates

10 October 2026: Revised end date for the notice phase/disposal of claims and objections.

16 October 2026: Revised scheduled date for publication of the final electoral roll in Andhra Pradesh. Press Information Bureau

Don't treat the extension as a reason to wait. Treat it as extra time to verify your electoral entry and fix problems before the final roll is published.
